Now in association with Crawley College!

Peter Zielke, Chairman of the GHA, and Julie Kapsalis, the Managing Director of the Chichester College Group, which includes Crawley College, initially discussed the idea of establishing a closer working relationship and build a partnership to their mutual benefit. Further discussions took place with Vicki Illingworth (Principal, Crawley College), Jo Chappel (Head of Learning), Paul Rolfe (Director of Sales & Marketing), all key members at Crawley College. Informal conversations took place earlier in the year to discuss potential partnership opportunities and all attended the unveiling of the the GHA plaque on Thursday 6th December.

We are pleased to announce the GHA was able to help the college by making a financial contribution to the costs of re-opening the college student restaurant which closed a few years ago. The primary objective was to reintroduce craft and FOH courses for students. Despite the very tight schedule the project was completed in time for the intake of this academic year.

The restaurant is open to the public for lunch and dinner on certain days of the week offering food at very reasonable prices with all meals prepared and served by the students themselves. The aim is to extend the operation to other days as and when possible.
In return the College has erected a plaque in their new restaurant acknowledging the contribution from the GHA and highlighting the logo of each member hotel. This will hopefully strengthen our ties with not only potential employees at the conclusion of their training but also allow us to offer on-the-job experience to certain students.

To celebrate the college’s achievement and the partnership with the GHA, members were invited to a dinner on Thursday 6th December which was wholly prepared and served by the students. This was executed with absolute professionalism and not only was the food appetising and well presented by the craft students but the service delivered by the FOH students was just as impressive. This was particularly remarkable given that the course only began 14 weeks ago. We wish them every success in their future careers.
